Replace those dull Akai EWV2000 factory sounds with professional quality wind controller sounds from PATCHMAN MUSIC- the leading authority in breath controlled sound design. PATCHMAN MUSIC now offers TWO professional quality wind controller soundbanks for the Akai EWV2000 EWI/EVI sound module. Each soundbank contains 64 all-new Pro Patches programmed by Matt Traum, an experienced wind synthesist and sound designer, optimized to be played with the Akai EWI1000 or EVI1000 wind controller. These sounds require an Akai EWI1000 or EVI1000 wind controller for proper use.
These EWV2000 soundbanks were designed with the philosophy that they should be useful to a wind instrument player. You won't find any pianos, organs, or drums in these Volumes. You WILL find lots of super expressive solo sounds, classic analog timbres, emulative acoustic wind instrument patches, fat synth leads, and punchy synth basses. Many hours were devoted to tweaking these soundbanks to perfection. The result is two professional soundbanks far superior to the EWV2000's presets. Every parameter in every patch has been evaluated to make these patches as expressive as possible. If you are lucky enough to own an Akai EWV2000 module and EWI-1000 or EVI-1000 you owe it to yourself to use the best sounds possible.

Rather than go with Patchman's usual bank architecture of 'a little bit of everything', this collection is all analog, and in my opinion fully exploits what the EWV2000 was meant to do- classic analog synthesis. 64 patches of almost every conceivable style of analog synth you could want. The programming has exploited the strengths of the EWV2000. My personal favorites are the resonant patches as well as the patches using fourth, fifth and octave intervals. The 70's style patches are great for my fusion gig too- really just lots of good analog stuff here, and if you like to program your own, these patches can save you time by acting as templates as many classic analogs styles and more are covered in this set. In sum, I have probably underestimated the EWV2000 in the past as a synth. It is a great analog synth and was way ahead of the eventual analog revival back in the late eighties when the Yamaha DX7 reigned supreme and rom'plers were becoming popular. For those that have an EWV2000 and like analog, this is the bank to get. "The Patchman patches are quite good, IMO - patches are very responsive - I can growl, and flutter with breath alone, and the only other synth that can do that is the [Yamaha] VL... If you want to use your EWV, the Patchman patches give you the motivation... the documentation that came with the cassette is quite detailed and thorough... I wish I had gotten these sooner. Nicely organized... Patches are expressive and easy to play. The synth sounds are terrific, such as the ARP and Moog sounds. I liked the JEAN LUC patch as well. Also, the best analog saxes I have ever heard... The real strength of this soundbank is the monosynth sounds, which are superb! And the basses are good too. Endorsement: If you own a EWV you should consider getting these... I have new respect for my EWV!"
